About Ken Kee Restaurant Hong Kong

When I introduce people to Ken Kee Restaurant Hong Kong, I usually start by saying it’s one of those Chinese restaurants that feels instantly familiar yet still manages to surprise you with its depth. Tucked away at 2129 S China Pl, Chicago, IL 60616, United States, this spot sits right in the heart of Chinatown, making it an easy stop whether you’re already exploring the area or specifically craving authentic comfort food. The vibe is classic Chinese restaurant energy-casual, welcoming, and focused on good food rather than unnecessary frills-which honestly makes it even more appealing. What stands out to me is how Ken Kee Restaurant Hong Kong balances speed and substance, so you can pop in for a quick bite or settle down for a relaxed dine-in meal without feeling rushed. Delivery and takeaway options also make it convenient on busy days when you want something satisfying at home. The menu leans heavily into comfort food, with generous portions and flavors that feel warm and familiar, especially late at night when few places are still serving quality dishes. Small plates are perfect for sharing, while vegetarian options make it easy for different tastes to coexist at the same table. I also like that alcohol is available, which adds to the laid-back dining experience without turning it into a bar scene. From the moment you walk in, there’s a sense that this is a place built for regulars as much as newcomers, and that confidence shows in how consistently the food is prepared, how smoothly the service flows, how approachable the staff feels, and how effortlessly the space adapts to different dining moods throughout the day and night, making it a reliable go-to for locals, students, families, and curious visitors passing through Chinatown who want honest food without overthinking it anymore.

Low frills but great flavor and value! Items we ordered as of 8/2025 - Crab Rangoon (4) - 6.95 - Very thick and fully filled with cream cheese. I love crab rangoons and this was definitely a hit with me. - BBQ Pork Belly Rice Bowl w/ Sunny Side Up Egg - $12.95 - DELICIOUS! The pork belly was tender and had a perfect balance of fat to lean meat. Value wise this was a no brainer. 100% would order this again. - Szechuan Boiled Fish Fillet - $17.95 - VERY Mala so if that's your jam then get this! The quantity was superb for the price. Overall we were quite happy with our food and would gladly come back to try their other dishes!

LOVE the decor and the atmosphere here. It is decorated so well and the design is amazing. The staff is very kind and service was quick during lunch on a weekday. I tried the famous HK toast and it was okay, not too sweet and primarily tastes of the honey dipping sauce and the peanut butter inside. The egg drop soup was tasty, and the ingredients were delicious but needed more salt. This restaurant is worth trying for the vibes themselves.

I went to Ken Kee with my Uncle. I dragged him with me because I saw this place on Instagram and it did not disappoint me at all. He got the special for $10. With the special he got the Brisket Ramen and The Hot Lemon Tea. He said he enjoyed the ramen. I should have got it because it was the exact Size as my build-A-Ramen. I put bokchow, canteen noodles, boiled eggs, spicy beef broth(must try) and I added spices from the table. It was super flavorful and more than enough. Two people can share the ramen. I got the shrimp fried rice which they prepared perfectly. I also got the garlic green beans which was pretty good. It was definitely a lot of food but I wanted to try it all and I had enough to take home for the next day. I’m returning because they have a pretty long menu I want to try. Thanks

We were looking for a spot to grab lunch when my friend recommended this restaurant. At first, I was a little hesitant—the menu is huge, and places with large menus can sometimes be hit or miss. But to our surprise, everything we ordered was absolutely delicious, and the portions were incredibly generous for the price. We got two mains and a small egg drop soup, which ended up being more than enough food. We didn’t have any leftovers—not because the portions were small, but because everything was so good we couldn’t stop eating. The standout for us was the egg drop soup. It felt like an elevated take on the version you'd find at similar spots—rich, comforting, and full of flavor. Next time I’m in Chinatown, I’m definitely coming back to try more dishes. Everything we saw on the menu sounded tempting, and the flavors were impressively complex—not just compared to other spots in the neighborhood, but to Chinese food I’ve had elsewhere in the city. Plus, at around $35 for two mains and a side, it’s a deal that’s hard to beat in Chicago.

The only thing I've tried is the beef brisket noodle soup! It is very good, noodles are handmade based on the main description and they have a nice chewy texture which I really like. The beef brisket itself is a nice and tender they give you a good portion along with the pieces of the fat for those who like to eat that part. And the broth itself is nice and savory and it's not overly salty. And they give you some veggies in there like bok choy with a jammy egg which is my favorite part! I like to come during their tea time which occurs Monday through Friday from 2-5pm, they have a few options on their menu but I always get their beef brisket noodle soup and one of their drinks, it is only $10 drink included! Sometimes I'll get the warm milk tea other times I'll get the iced lemon tea but you can't go wrong with any of those drinks (milk tea, lemon tea or coffee) whether you get them warm or iced. If you do get them iced it's an additional $1.50 on top of the $10 deal. Still a great value and portion and I recommend checking them out! I'll definitely be back to try other things on their menu. They do have a lobster deal for $29.95 which I'm really curious to try so I'll probably be back to try that as well as some other other soup options on their menu.

I made my own noodle bowl: egg noodle, dumplings, bbq pork belly & bok choy. Loved their bbq pork and freshly made dumplings. Pro tip: Don’t get the +2 crazy spicy like I did. I ALMOST DIED. Lol. I was crying so hard. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.

We came here on a busy day when everywhere else had super long waits time but this place had no wait at all. The menu is simple and has pictures which helped a lot. There’s a good amount of seating, maybe for around 20 people max. We ordered the pork rolls, shumai, corn dish, fried chive dumplings, and sticky rice. The pork rolls and shumai especially were solid and I would get again! The sticky rice looked really good in the photo but was actually dry, hard, and completely had no flavor. I would skip that next time. Service was good and efficient. you can even watch them chop up the meats right in front of you in the front of the restaurant. I’d definitely come back to try the pork or duck next time.
